Choosing the right font for your brand

Anyone who has worked with Liz will know what a stickler she is for getting your branding right, including your corporate font.

When you're designing your business branding, think about your brand values and what you want your business to represent; friendly, approachable, elite, professional, expensive, affordable, niche, everyday, aspirational, healthy, indulgent etc etc.Your branding, and particularly your brand / corporate font, should immediately reflect these values.

If you are trying to portray a modern, sleek image, than you should be looking at sans serif fonts - these are the ones without the little embellishments at the end of the letters.

Script fonts (i.e. those that look like they may have been written) can work really well for personality based branding, such as therapists or beauticians. But bear in mind that they sometimes can be difficult to read, for example on a corflute sign by the roadside if someone is driving past.

Here are a couple of examples of fonts that Liz has used in some of her recent branding assignments.

Podiatrist - Sans Serif font (Julius Sans one), modern, clean, professional font

Business Organisation Service - clean, professional, sleek - Babas Neue font

Fertility Massage Therapist - Selima Script font, but still easy to read

We love this article from Canva with some fantastic modern and new gen fonts.

If you are a font nerd like Liz, we highly recommend signing up to this newsletter with T26 - total font porn every month! :D

And this is a great site for finding your corporate font - tons of choices grouped by genre and classification, and mostly either free or low cost.
